Lauryn Erickson is a 23 year old hairstylist and makeup artist currently living in Michigan. She also just recently started her own personal training business. Lauryn has made it her goal in life to do everything she can to uplift people, and provide the motivation, and positivity everyone needs. Lauryn says, "I love people and I love making them feel extraordinary. It literally makes my day to have a client leave my chair feeling brand new and beautiful. Or to receive a message that I have helped inspire someone!"
Lauryn came from an extremely small town and has always struggled with fitting in.
She explains, "When I was younger I definitely dealt with depression and feeling very lonely because there was no one else like me, I didn't have a solid group of friends. I used to self harm and push people away because I didn't even know who I truly was. I was an outcast in high school, and I hated it until my senior year when I enrolled in the cosmetology program; the pivotal moment in my life where I finally felt at home. I remember feeling like I had finally found my people and the fact that I was different was encouraged, and I was praised for it. My parents and family always supported me through anything but as a human being, I always wanted to fit in somewhere in my social life and my career. I thrived in school and competed in National as well as International hair competitions where I continued to meet amazing people in the industry. I was inspired by the people I met, I learned things about myself and about the industry and I fell in love."
Lauryn quickly realized how much power she had as a stylist to create incredible, lifelong relationships and help people through everyday problems. She expressed, "I love that my clients feel comfortable enough to talk to me about their lives. The good and the bad. I found my calling behind the chair, to be there for the people that really needed it."
Lauryn quickly gained a decent social media following where she has started doing everything she can to help inspire people. Whether through positivity posts, posts about reaching goals, or fitness posts, she has helped reach so many young people. Lauryn says, "I want to be the person I needed when I was younger. I have been inspired by so many strong women, as well as myself, to do whatever it takes to reach your dreams. I never would have thought, coming from a small town, that I would ever do the things I have accomplished. Most of the time it takes a struggle to appreciate the good in life. To really see what is out there and how many amazing opportunities are out there if you just work for them."
Lauryn continues to encourage people to do what they are passionate about, to do what they love because she believes no one gets to determine one's own worth except them self. Lauryn lives by a mantra that a person can find strength in everyday situations and decide what their future holds.
Lauryn proclaims, "You are the one that gets to make the decision to live. To really embrace this one life you've been given, and to decide how your individual life should be lived. I am excited to partner with Decision To Live because I truly believe in their message! I believe I have a story to tell and a message to spread and so do they. We need more positive influences in this crazy world we live in, and I believe partnering up with this amazing company is my first step to reaching more people!"
