1st Lieutenant Weston C. Lee, 25, of Bluffton,GA died Apr. 29th, outside Mosul, Iraq, when he stepped on an IED (improvised explosive device) while conducting security as part of advise and assist support to partnered forces NE of Mosul. 1st Lieutenant Weston C. Lee was an infantry officer assigned to 1st Battalion, 325th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division. 1st. Lt. Lee joined the Army in March 2015 and, following the Infantry Basic Officer Leaders Course, was assigned to the 2nd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division as a platoon leader. He deployed to Iraq in December 2016. This was his first deployment. 1st. Lt. Lee’s awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Ranger Tab, the Parachutist Badge, and the Army Service Ribbon. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, and the Meritorious Service Medal.

Weston was the type of guy who always chose the hard right over the easy wrong.  He preferred the path less traveled and thrived off of being faced with challenges that to the normal person seemed impossible to defeat.  When he faced these obstacles he did so with a smile because he knew whose side he was on and knew God would carry him through.  He inspired nearly everyone he passed to push further and fight harder than every competitor and every challenger.  He simply made you want to be the best version of yourself.  Weston lived a life of impact and was driven to make a difference on every life he touched.  He lived fearlessly and freely doing what he loved to do with reckless abandon.  He lived in such a way that it made you want to befriend him before having even met him.  Weston was the epitome of a good man, friend, brother, son, boyfriend, warrior and leader.  We should all strive to be half of the person Weston Lee was and we should fearlessly pursue a life full of impactful purpose, just as he did.  The L3 Project was created to honor the life of 1LT Weston Lee and to inspire others to live life to the fullest just as he did.
